Monday Nov. 4th:

A First-Hand Account from the US-Mexico Border 

5:30 am to 7 pm - Basalt Library - FREE 

"Attorney Claire Noone will give a first-hand account of what she has witnessed in her travels to the Mexico-US border. Noone has traveled to the border to work in family and children's detention centers, has been present in court where children are expected to represent themselves, worked in refugee shelters, given out food on the bridges into the country, and assisted asylum seekers stuck in Mexico as part of the Remain In Mexico program. She routinely gives "Know Your Rights" presentations, is part of the Rapid Response Coalition to respond to ICE raids, and has given several presentations on the legal history of immigration in the US and what has changed to get us where we are now."

Philosophy Club: Climate Change - It's Not a Game

"As the slow-motion catastrophe of climate change accelerates how will people deal with the brave new world we have created? We will discuss the philosophical implications of a warming world and what we can do to adapt to this developing situation. Philosophy Club is for people interested in having big conversations about the meaning of life, society and the ideas and ideologies that surround us. We will meet the first Tuesday of each month for about 1.5 hours."

Screenagers Next Chapter

"Filmmaker and physician Dr. Delaney Ruston takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level with Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience—a film that examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age."

High in Plain Sight: Substance Use Concealment Trends

"YouthZone is sponsoring two sessions with Tall Cop Officer Jermaine Galloway, Tall Cop, on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, in Aspen and New Castle. Galloway is a nationally and internationally recognized instructor who researches substance use trends and the drug culture of a community. CoMotion Dance Performance November 8 & 9 in Carbondale

"CoMotion is Carbondale's very own dance company and each autumn, we showcase a variety of works in an intimate, community setting at the Launchpad in downtown Carbondale. Founded in 2013 by local community dancers, CoMotion creates repertoire that educates and inspires a passion for the art of dance while also providing a transformative performing arts experience for patrons. The show this year is called RETURNING. Returning is an exploration into the layers of self and the many facets of journeying away... and back home. This dance showcase will include 2 pieces from CoMotion's repertoire and 3 new works, including a piece set by the New York City-based company, The Hewman Collective."

Original music created by Barry Chapman and Conor Johnson, produced by Conor Johnson. A journey of light and sound through the Chakras, movement to create a connection from your heart to all the chakras for a sense of inner freedom, peace and love. This Black Light Party is your cosmic playtime! Have our artists paint you, or paint your friends! UV Art Display by Conor Johnson. Mobility & Stability for Healthy Hips: Myofascial Workshop

4 pm to 6 pm - True Nature - CARBONDALE - $45

"Healthy movement is critical for healthy hips. Sports, aging and daily use can all wear down the cartilage in the hip sockets and place undue stress on the muscles, tendons and connective tissues, creating dysfunction, arthritis and even pain. We will focus on creating a balance of strength, flexibility and recovery for the hips with gentle Yin yoga poses and Myofascial Release with therapy balls. This practice is a valuable tool for hip longevity and an effective compliment to biking, hiking, skiing or yoga. All props provided. Bio: Lindsay Herlinger loves teaching the Art of Relaxation, helping other decrease stress, and deeply heal their bodies. She’s passionate about teaching Yin Yoga, Myofascial Release, Restorative and Yoga Nidra. Her classes reflect her therapeutic and anatomical training from Yoga Medicine and philosophical training from Para Yoga. She’s a RYT-500HR certified yoga instructor."

ACS Presents Ellen Stapenhorst

4 pm to 6 pm - Aspen Glen Clubhouse - CARBONDALE - $40

"The 3rd Annual Aspen Choral Society Fundraiser Featuring Celebrated Singer-Songwriter Ellen Stapenhorst Ellen Stapenhorst has lived and worked in the Roaring Fork Valley since the early 1970s, when she helped form the popular band Tanglefoot. She is renowned for writing and performing songs that touch our common humanity and empower our better selves. A local legend herself, Ms. Stapenhorst has collaborated with other local and not-so-local legends such as John Denver, Buffy St. Marie, Shawn Colvin, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Mack Bailey. This late afternoon event features hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, the opportunity to meet ACS Music Director Paul Dankers and the ACS Board Members, and a performance by Ms. Stapenhorst. The event will be held at the Aspen Glen Country Club from 4:00-6:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Tickets are $40 per person and are available for purchase online at until Friday, November 1, 2019."

Community Sounding Circle with Bonte Lane

"Uncover Your True Voice with Bonte Lane A community event open to all, no singing experience required! Bonte Lane will guide you through a light and lively exploration of vocal sounding to get in touch with your authentic voice. The workshop will include a playful sounding circle, singing simple songs, and end with a guided chakra clearing using voice and crystal singing bowls."
